A Commercial Drivers License Program A-1 Truck School's Tractor/Trailer Operator Program is a day or evening course. Classes meet Monday through Saturday, and Sundays are also available. Course work includes:
  • Assistance in getting your learner's permit.
  • Driving on the open road in highway, city, and heavy traffic conditions.
  • Safe and efficient operation of various types of tractors and trailers.
  • Defensive driving techniques, backing, safety and emergency procedures.
  • Graduates receive a Class A CDL.

Class B Commercial Drivers License Program A-1 Truck School's Class B CDL Program includes:
  • Driving on the open road in highway, city, and heavy traffic conditions.
  • Operations of straight trucks.
  • Defensive driving techniques, backing, safety and emergency procedures.
  • Loading and unloading, parking and docking procedures.
  • Trip planning and navigational skills.
  • Graduates receive a Class B CDL.

Class A TRACTOR/TRAILER OPERATOR PROGRAM is designed for entry level driver preparation of the California CDL test and successful employment through an intensive four to eight-week program. Field and classroom training provide a combined total of 160 hours. Class A CDL training includes DOT Safety Rules and Regulations, State regulations, and proficiency development in the skills required to obtain employment. A-1 Truck School offers day, evening, and weekend classes.  The top trucking companies in the nation will actively recruit from WTS classes.

Students attend 40-hours of classroom training covering such subjects as DOT, logbooks, defensive driving and job search techniques. Preparation for the CDL permit is done in class in addition to the DOT required Driver Wellness module per CFR 49 regulations.

Field training includes both observation and behind the wheel time. The field training consists of driving in training areas that include a combination of highway, city and heavy traffic driving. There is a tested and proven emphasis on defensive driving. Backing and safety. Emergency procedures are also practiced extensively. The training also consists of DMV skill practice, job search training, DMV road testing and ultimately graduation and employment. Homework is assigned on a regular basis and students must be prepared for an intensive program of study.   Drivers graduating from this course will normally have all endorsements and be prepared to work nationwide, regionally and locally for the nation's largest truckload carriers.

Class B CDL Training course is offered year-round on a first-come, first-served basis. This training is designed to prepare A-1 Truck School graduates to become professional entry-level commercial truck (Class B) drivers. The Class B Commercial Driver's Course is a 40-hour program that you can take during the day, the evenings or even weekends!

The instructor to student ratio for our Class B program is one to one. This normally all-field training course consists of driving in training areas that include combination of highway, city, and heavy traffic areas with a strong emphasis on defensive driving. After completion of the course, students are taken to the Department of Motor Vehicles for the Class B Commercial Driver's License skills and driving tests.

A standard Class B box or a modified Class A vehicle is used for this training, and this equipment fully complies with all Federal, State and Local regulations. A Class B hulder can, however, drive a variety of vehicles, including: straight trucks, dump trucks.

This is a 40-hour course emphasizing safety, pre-trip inspection, in-cab inspections, air brake check. The course is offered on an on-going basis at locations throughout the Bay Area as available. Contact Us for the next class start date if you want more information.
